Accelerated Reader Master School Award
St Peter’s PS Collegeland is celebrating being the first school in Northern Ireland to be awarded ‘Master School’ status for the 2015-16 school year by educational software provider Renaissance Learning. St. Peter’s is also the first school in the UK apart from schools involved in our partnership programme to achieve Master School status.
The Accelerated Reader Programme involves over 40,000 schools in the UK, from both Primary and Secondary School sectors. St Peter’s was one of five schools in Northern Ireland last year to achieve Champion School Status. The success story has continued with the school achieving the programmes highest accolades, a total of four Master awards; 2 Master Classes, Master Project Manager and ultimately Master School Status.
James Bell, Director of Professional Service at Renaissance Learning says: “St Peter’s PS Collegeland is a fantastic example to other schools, showing how it is possible to instil a culture of reading. Certification is a great way for children to share a common purpose as part of a team working towards collective goals, and we are really pleased to see how the teachers and pupils at St Peter’s are working hard to achieve these results.”
Principal Mr Jim McAlinden states, “This is a great reflection of the excellent standards of teaching and learning that goes on in our school. This programme has engaged school, parents and children working together in partnership to offer the children the best possible learning opportunities and we’re very proud of the achievements and all involved.”
