Mrs Murtagh's class Planetarium trip

P5-6 had a wonderful visit to Armagh Planetarium to begin our WAU topic on 'Our Place in Space'. The pupils were thrilled to experience the show in the theatre showing the constellations and planets. During this dome show we followed a family of friendly aliens on their quest to find a perfect planet in our own solar system on which to have an extended vacation.

Next our STEM skills were tested when we designed rockets. The pupils used different recycled materials to construct their rockets. Next came the exciting part when we went outdoors to launch the rockets and test which rocket designs rose the highest and travelled the greatest distance!

We ended our trip by exploring the exhibition centre and sensory areas.
